The Music Department offers a range of excellent opportunities and facilities. In curricular lessons, students study a wide range of topics and develop listening, performing, composing and theory skills, using class sets of keyboards, percussion instruments. Students also utilise Apple Macs to develop their music technology skills. Aside from studying GCSE and A Level Music, students can also partake in a range of extra-curricular ensembles available for all abilities and ages. In addition, students can further their performance skills in one to one instrument lessons on a range of instruments with one of our team of highly skilled peripatetic instrumental teachers.

Outside the department, Music at CCHSG is alive around the school. Students take part in concerts and productions throughout the academic year, in addition to the Choral Competition. The department itself has excellent facilities, including two spacious classrooms that can become one large rehearsal space, a recording studio, an Apple Mac suite, a sound proof band practice room and a number of individual practice rooms each equipped with a piano.

Extra-curricular

CCHSG is proud to offer a diverse range of extra-curricular ensembles. Students of any age or ability are welcome to most of these. Please see Mr Ulph or Miss Barnes for further information. Students must have their own instruments, but the school has a number of instruments available upon request with Mr Ulph.
